My name is Sam Waller and I am the founder of Stirling Drum Tuition. I have been playing drums for 25 years and have over ten years of teaching experience.
My goal as a tutor has always been to provide students with a fun and engaging approach to learning, with a focus on musical goals and ambitions.
Over the years I have taught private students on a one to one basis and worked with larger groups / coordinated workshops with a number of organisations including Live Music Now, Stirling Council and Aberdeen International Youth Music Initiative.
As well as teaching I am an active session drummer and working musician with a wealth of live performance and studio recording expereince.

Whilst playing with the bands “Miniature Dinosaurs” and “Brownbear” I have been fortunate enough to tour extensively throughout Europe and the UK as well as playing at many established music festivals.
Highlights include a European arena tour with The Libertines and Circa Waves as well as UK tours with The View and Easylife.
Along the way, I had the pleasure of playing iconic venues such as Londons Alexandra Palace, Glasgow Barowlands, Hyde Park, Amsterdam Arena, Berlin Arena, Stirling Castle, and music festivals such as Blue Balls (Switzerland) T in The Park, Belladrum and The Wickerman Festival.
"Sam has current hands on industry experience and has played at some of the biggest venues and been involved with some of the most hotly tipped artists. This has led him to be able to teach students in a modern and engaging way, if you are engaged you will learn and his encouraging style of tuition is simply fantastic, turns out he’s a great guy and awesome drummer as well."

Dervish currently teaches on Saturdays at Stirling Drum Tuition though he has been a drum kit and percussion instructor in East Ayrshire schools since 2004 teaching many hundreds of pupils to become professionals and keen hobbyists alike.

Dervish specialises in technique and vocabulary on the drum set with more advanced players though he also finds great joy in the honour of becoming someone’s first teacher and introducing them to playing the drum kit.

He warmly welcomes anyone and everyone at all stages of learning to his lessons.
